program of supporting writing a scientific book as a coursebook

This program aims at achieving the university vision to support the field of scientific research by encouraging the academic staff to produce high-quality study references under the supervision of the academic departments and the Scientific Research Center, which guarantees the quality of these books and their reflection on the quality of the educational process.

Objectives

1. Raising the motivation of the academic staff at the university, enhancing their capacities and developing their skills to participate in the enrichment of human knowledge.

2. Upgrading reference books for academic majors at the university in terms of quantity and quality.

3. Encouraging the academic staff to produce high-quality study references which guarantees the quality of these books and their reflection on the quality of the educational process.

Targets

Academic staff at Al-Razi University

Standards

1. Approval of the academic department council to which the applicant belongs, indicating that the book will be used as a course book with specifying the number and code of the course.

2. The submitted book should not have been previously published or submitted to any other party.

3. The author shall follow the scientific ethics and maintain the intellectual property of others.

4. The modern and diverse scientific references related to the subject of the book shall be sought.

5. To be characterized by the accuracy, clarity and integrity of the language.

6. The book shall never be translated.

7. The author shall indicate in the book his/her affiliation with Al-Razi University.

Implementation Process

1. The author / authors submit a request to support writing a course book to the Scientific Research Center by filling in the special form.

2. Attach a letter from the department head addressing the director of the Scientific Induction Center, specifying approval of the council decision, session number and date, and attach a copy of the decision.

3. The application is examined by a scientific committee determined by the Scientific Research Center according to the field of the book, and it recommends any of the following:

A- Accepting the project of writing book (the main author shall be informed of this)

B- Accepting the project with some amendments. (the main author shall be notified of making the amendments within two weeks).

C- Rejecting the project. (the main author shall be notified without giving the reasons for rejection)

1. The Scientific Committee submits its recommendations to the Council of the Scientific Research Center for approval.

2. Signing a contract with the author / authors and Director of the Scientific Research Center.

3. The author / authors shall undertake to submit the required material during the contract period and to publish the book at the time agreed upon in the contract. In case of breaching the conditions, the author / authors’ right to claim his financial rights stipulated in the contract shall be forfeited.

4. Authors are paid a financial reward based on the reviewers’ reports according to the reviewing criteria, and not exceeding 200,000 Riyals

5. The project proposer is obligated to authoring according to the plan approved by the deanship.

6. A hard copy and an electronic copy of the book shall be submitted after authoring it.

7. The Deanship Scientific Committee assures the extent to which the authored book matches the approved plan.

8. The book is evaluated by sending it to three (3) specialized reviewers, taking into account the academic degree of the arbitrator.

9. The Scientific Committee recommends that the book be approved or that publishing is excluded, based on the reviewers’ reports and the authors’ responses.

10. The author's full reward, after his approval, shall be paid by the scientific committee upon completion of the first publication experiment.

11. The university owns the rights to print the book.

Rules for publishing authored books

1. The book is not considered acceptable for publication without the approval of the scientific committee.

2. A book is considered an integrated unit, regardless of the number of its parts, and it is treated in terms of reward as one book.

3. The author is responsible for undertaking the rules of intellectual property rights of others.

4. The author grants (50) fifty copies of the book free of charge.
